With a commitment to environmental responsibility, Shaw Healthcare has incorporated solar and battery storage at its Maes-y-Dderwen and Cwm Celyn care facilities leading to a significant decrease in carbon footprint.

Objective

The unique challenge laid in balancing a dual objective of cutting costs and decarbonising operations. Shaw required cutting energy usage without disrupting its round-the-clock operations. The project involved designing retrofit systems to suit the existing building structures.

Significant Carbon Emission Reduction

Shaw aimed to dramatically reduce its carbon emissions, aligning with broader corporate goals to minimise environmental impact while maintaining operational efficiency.

EV Charger

Maes-y-Dderwen and Cwm Celyn care facilities operate continuously, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, requiring an uninterrupted continuous power supply to ensure the continued health and safety of its residents and staff.

Solar Panels

Given the sensitive nature of the care facility and the well-being of residents, it was crucial that the installation process be conducted with utmost discretion. Nuvolt ensured that all operations were carried out efficiently, scheduling work during times that would least disrupt the daily routines and activities of the residents. Additionally, measures were put in place to minimise any visual or noise disturbances, maintaining a calm environment throughout the installation phase.

Solution

Nuvolt provided a customised installation, including a solar PV system, enhanced with advanced battery storage technology.

Solar Panels: The panels efficiently convert sunlight into electricity, significantly reducing the need for

grid-supplied power during daylight hours.

Battery Storage: Excess energy produced by the solar panels is stored in batteries for use during non-daylight hours or higher energy demand periods, ensuring a continuous power supply without interruption.:
