Frenchay Primary School
Rooftop solar PV and full M&E re-instatement for a primary school estate — cutting bills, supporting the local council's net-zero plan and creating a live teaching aid.
Delivering renewable energy within a highly sustainable education facility
Frenchay Primary School was developed as one of South Gloucestershire's first Passivhaus-standard schools, designed to achieve exceptional energy performance and support long-term carbon reduction objectives. The challenge was integrating renewable energy generation within a complex new-build educational environment while ensuring all supporting mechanical and electrical infrastructure performed as a single, coordinated system.
Solar PV integrated with wider building services infrastructure
Nuvolt delivered the rooftop solar PV installation alongside the reinstatement and integration of associated mechanical and electrical systems. Working as part of the wider project team, the solution was designed to support the building's low-carbon objectives while ensuring the renewable energy infrastructure operated effectively within the school's broader energy strategy.
- 53.1 kWp rooftop solar PV designed for a working primary school
- Full Mechanical and Electrical re-instatement delivered alongside the solar
- Retrofit engineered to fit the existing building structure
- Supports the local council's net-zero plan and doubles as a live teaching aid
Supporting a low-carbon learning environment
The completed project contributes renewable electricity generation to one of the region's most energy-efficient educational facilities. By combining solar generation with integrated building services infrastructure, the project supports lower operational energy demand, reduced carbon emissions and a more sustainable long-term energy model for the school.
